Eyelash Extensions, do we love them??
Who doesn't love a little extra lash? As Iv'e gotten older, I have noticed a shift in my everyday makeup routine; I've gotten lazy..haha! There's just not enough time in the day to spends 45 minutes to an hour on my makeup routine when I'm on-the-go. It wasn't until my own wedding day, my prayers were answered. Not just because I married the man of my dreams, but because I had eyelash extensions applied for the first time! :)
Similar to the ones you get on your head, eyelash extensions are individual lashes, made of silk, mink, or something synthetic, that are attached to your existing lashes semi-permanently. Waking up to beautiful lashes every morning can enhance your look without having to put on a lick of makeup. Soon after having them applied, you'll be telling your girlfriends, "I woke up like this"!
I have a lot of brides ask me about the pros and cons of lash extensions so I've decided to share my thoughts. Here's what you need to know.
1. Lash extensions are customizable
You will be able to choose your length and thickness. That means you can go from very natural to Va va VOOM, Kim Kardashian lashes. You can also be creative with the placement of each lash extension. For example, the inner corner extension may be slightly shorter than the outer end extensions, creating a winged exotic eye shape. Or...you may want them a little more wispy which creates a fluffy lash.
2. It's a luxurious experience
It's about a 90 minute to 120 minute process. But can be very relaxing to most women. So ultimately, you get to lay down and take a good ol' nap while having your lashes attached. "Sign me up... please!"
3. They are long lasting
So this all depends on how you take care of your extensions. Most people will get a fill-in every 2-3 weeks. As long as you take care of them and follow the care instruction provided by your lash tech, they can last a little longer. Be careful not to get any oil on them or water if you plan to only have them applied one time.
4. You can wear makeup with them
If you love a smokey eye and a nice winged liner, don't worry...you don't have to skip out on it! Just be sure to use an oil-free makeup remover. Also be careful not to use a liquid liner too close to the eyelash extensions.
5. Can they ruin your real lashes?
So the answer is yes, ONLY if you are constantly pulling off the extension yourself. The only way to get these babies removed without any damage, is to have them removed professionally. As long as you brush and clean them daily, you will save your natural lashes.
