In 2006 Marquia James moved from her hometown, Charlotte, NC to the District of Columbia after receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Social Work at Winston Salem State University. With the opportunity to help other people, increase their self-confidence and overall well-being, her desires lead her to pursue a career in the beauty industry. She knew that her passion for cosmetics would be the driving force behind her craft.
She has worked in nearly every aspect of the industry ranging from TV production, Good Morning Washington News, to editorial bridal shoots featured in Style Me Pretty, Washingtonian Bride and Groom, and The Coordinated Bride. Marquia has traveled all over, working with bridal parties from DC, Atlanta, to the islands of the Dominican Republic. She has also worked with high profile clients such as Disney Actress, Skai Jackson; TV Host (The Chew), Carla Hall; 44th President's Daughters; Sasha and Malia Obama; Radio Personality and Public Figure, Sunni And The City; Miss USA 2017, Kara McCullough; InStyle Magazine Editor, Kahlana Barfield-Brown; President of Combs Enterprise, Dia Simms; Political Analyst of MSNBC, Maya Harris, and United States Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Her experience as a MAC Cosmetics Manager and Boots Cosmetics Trainer has built a strong passion for demonstrating makeup techniques and skills to small groups and one on one makeup seminars.
With 14 years of experience, Marquia’s inspiration to work in the industry stemmed from the belief that subtle change with makeup can make any woman feel that she has achieved her full beauty potential. Marquia wants “women to recognize their natural beauty and to camouflage, not dwell on the flaws”. Her mission is to make every woman feel and look as though seen through God's eyes; beautiful.
